Improve Your Cardiovascular Health!

Gerry Morton April 28, 2013

Having a healthy heart is important in helping to prevent a heart attack or other cardiovascular health problems. According to the American Heart Association (AHA) by incorporating a few healthy strategies into your lifestyle, you can have good cardiac health. It is recommended by the AHA that you eat healthy, get a sufficient amount of omega-3 fatty acids, manage stress, exercise and give up tobacco products.

Eating Healthy
Eating the right foods is the first step towards a healthy heart. Foods that are heart healthy usually include natural or whole foods including vegetables, fruit, whole grains, fish and lean meats. It is important to have a correct calorie intake for your specific dietary needs and avoid eating foods that are high in fats and cholesterol. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables whenever possible and drink plenty of water.
Omega-3
Omega-3 fatty acids are a must for a healthy heart. Omega-3 is typically found in fish oil, flax seed oil and algae, which are all excellent for helping to lower your cholesterol and improve the health of your heart. However, if you do not get the recommended intake of foods that supply your body with necessary amounts of omega-3, you can substitute with supplements. When you combine omega-3 and CoQ10 supplements with a healthy diet, you dramatically reduce the risk of heart disease, reduce inflammation in your body and lower unhealthy triglycerides.
Stress Management
Anxiety, depression and stress all contribute to the risk of heart disease. Learning to manage stress is important in helping to prevent a heart attack or cardiovascular disease. There are healthy ways you can manage stress including exercising, eating healthy and learning relaxation techniques.
Exercise
Exercising is as important as eating healthy for a strong, healthy heart. When you do cardio exercises at least three days each week for 30-60 minutes you will reduce stress, lower your blood pressure and maintain a healthy weight, which help reduce the risk of heart disease. Whether you prefer to use a treadmill or take a walk around your neighborhood, walking is one of the easiest ways to exercise.
Limit Alcohol and Eliminate Tobacco
Stopping the use of tobacco products and limiting your alcohol intake are two of the most beneficial things you can do for improving the health of your heart. Regardless of how long you smoked, once you quit, your heart will begin to get stronger and it will greatly decrease the odds of a heart attack. If you smoke while taking certain medications, such as birth control pills, it can dramatically increase the risk of heart problems. Alcohol within limits is fine; however, if you drink more than two drinks on a daily basis, you may be causing a rise in your blood pressure as well as weakening your heart. Once you quit smoking, taking a supplement such as Greenergy will help repair the effects of tobacco such as build up the antioxidants in your body, reduce your appetite and help fight the risk of a heart attack.
You should talk with your physician before starting a new exercise routine or before taking supplements to make sure they do not interfere with any medications you are taking.
