Get Great Hair by Changing Your Diet

Gerry Morton August 20, 2013
Does your hair lack luster and shine? Is it dry and brittle, just generally not healthy? Hard to believe, but your hair can be affected by everything you do — your environment, your diet, and your stress levels. While we can’t help your environment, we can change your diet to help give you great luscious locks.

What Foods to Eat to Promote Hair Growth?

Here are some foods that you can incorporate into your daily diet that can help give you the hair you’ve always wanted. Let’s take a look on food good for hair growth faster.

Spinach :

This dark leafy green vegetable is packed with some great stuff for your body and your hair. Spinach has Vitamin C, folate, iron, and beta carotene, the stuff that you need to keep the oil in your scalp circulating and your follicles free from damage.

Kale :

Like spinach, another rich vegetable that is packed with antioxidants and vitamins. Works the same way as spinach, just another viable green leafy vegetable option for your diet.

Lentils :

While many people aren’t used to cooking with lentils, they are something that should definitely be tried if you are having problems with your hair. They have zinc, protein, iron, and biotin, which will help your hair look its very best.

Eggs :

A protein powerhouse, eggs also will give you iron, zinc, sulfur, and selenium. Why do you need iron? It will keep you from being anemic which causes hair loss and carries vital oxygen to the follicles of the hair. This is one mineral that your body really needs, especially if you want your hair to shine.

Salmon :

Strong hair needs salmon in the diet, for its Omega-3 fatty acids, the protein, and the rich Vitamin D. Since you can’t produce your own Omega-3, you need cold-water fish and supplements to get it. Each hair shaft on your head is made up of fatty acids, about 3 percent of it actually.

Walnuts :

While there are many nuts that are good for you, walnuts are the only nut that has a good rich source of those same Omega-3 fatty acids that salmon has. It also has Vitamin E and biotin, which will keep you from having hair DNA damage. The copper that is in walnuts will keep the color of your hair looking great.

Trout :

Another good cold-water fish for those essential fatty acids, if you aren’t a fan of salmon, trout may be your option. It will give your hair shaft that same boost of Omega-3 that is needed to build it.

Blueberries :

While everyone knows about blueberries power-punch of antioxidants, did you know that the Vitamin C in a blueberry can give you the scalp circulation your hair needs and helps the blood vessels found in the scalp? Vitamin C is vital to keep hair from breaking.
While hair is fortified by the hair follicle, the scalp also plays a big role. By eating these type of foods and using good hair supplements in your daily routine you can get healthier hair by stimulating these follicles and scalp.
